HT box for AA 10"

I went to subwoofer tools and messed around with it for a while until I got decent size box for my assassin 10". This is for HT/2-channel music use and will be going in my house, so size isn't really a concern. Anyway, this is what I came up with:

My main concern is the port width, shouldn't it be wider in order to keep from getting port noise? I'm not very experienced with sub box building so I was hoping yall could help me out. Is there another site that I could use where I could enter port width as one of the parameters?

If anyone out there could help out by designing a box for me that would be nice too, I'm looking for 2.0 cu ft tuned to 22 hz for a single assassin 10"

Any thoughts/comments?

Its good to hear that someone else has used these with success, they seem like really good drivers. I figured on the box volume to be just a bit over 2.0 cu ft as I assumed after the displacement of the driver/amp/port that it would be right at 1.8 ft at 22hz. However, what is the displacement of and AA 10", and how would I go about finding the displacement of a 17" port tube or a brace through the middle of the cabinet?

i emailed AA for the displacement but no longer have it as i am on a diferent computer...as for the displacement of the port simply calculate the area of a cylinder the dimensions of which are equal to that of your port...same with the brace if it is round if its rectangular its the same way as calculating the volume of an enclosure

yeah they are pretty impressive drivers for ht use

OK, I think I'm going to go with tube ports instead of a slot port, but I have some quetions regarding tube ports. I used the port length calculator on the PSP site and came up with one 3" port 18.5" long.

I also tried other combos like a pair of 3" ports, and in that case it says:

"Flare Length Port required 38.16"

So would this mean that each of the 3" ports would need to be 38.16" long, or that the total port length (ie sum of the length of both ports) would need to be 38.16", ie two 19.08" long 3" ports?

It seems everytime I try to calculate for a ported box I end up with some ridiculously long port....any help?

For home audio especially, I wouldn't even glance at an online calculator. Car boxes are difficult, but when the speaker is going in an open environment where accuracy is of utmost importance, it's usually good to get a custom design.

hmm, I figured that building a box for an in home environment would be simpler/less exacting than building a box for a car; but then again I'm a noob as far as box building goes, so I wouldn't really know. Do you have any suggestions as far as box design goes?

well if you havent found a designer. im open for a project.

heres a quick preview of my next project.

i was going to start it today but i may delay it a little bit.







its 2cubes at 33.5Hz the reason for the high tuning is because of the driver. this one is for an MA101XQ. not the best driver for the system. but i like a challenge so im a make it sound good. lol

one of the sides of the enclosure is going to be removable so i can add or take away from the port length to change the tuning slightly till i find the sweet point.
