i've gone back and forth about this a million times...Should i save up $1000 and do the whole bit at once and go all out, or should i be a conservative highschooler with the mindset that this is my first system, and can always upgrade when i get my dream car (a BMW M3 E46).

well i opted for the latter.

what i have now(HU and spk) and what i want(everything else):

HU: old sony HU

SPEAKERS: alpine Type S (40W RMS) all round

SPEAKER AMP: *with your approval* Profile CA440 (60x4 @ 4ohms)

SUBS: (2 or 3) RE8's

SUB AMP: *with your approval* Profile CA800(200x2 @ 4ohms or 600x1 @ 4 ohms)

BOX: homemade or maybe by gnomeaudio (definately ported)

looking for opinions about this set-up...

also questions are:

- What ohm load would i wire (2) RE8's? how about (3)RE8's?

- Profile: CA series vs. the CL series?

- also is ikesound.com a respectable online company?

thanks guys, sorry if this was kinda lengthy

I would go all out and get a good system.

You can always swap equipment in and out of cars or you can sell it and buy new stuff.

If you ever get your dream car, I'm sure you'll be able to afford a new set of equipment anyways.

CA440 speaker amp: $85

(2) RE8's: $100

CA800 sub amp: $115

homemade sub box:$50

Amp accesories and speaker wire: $50

Satisfaction of a complete noobie system: priceless

...so about $400

good systems, but I wpuld rather go with the TYPE R's sound better,

H/U might have to upgrade to a sony with a

Preamp 2/3 Volt (this is going to be neccessary for your system to sound proper)

3 sets of RCA

MP CDR/W

you can get your systems including HW for about 1000

go to http://www.ikesound.com

I going to put:

4X6 vibe

6X9 3 way vibe

10" MTX

5 channel vibe amp

for about 800 from http://www.justamps.com

don't know it vibes are perfect mid line or for starter systems

Yeah I'm in high school and I told myself $500 was my limit. I'm at $2000 now because of upgrades.

Pioneer Premier DEH-P850MP

Pioneer 60RMS 200MAX Speakers in doors

Custom Box http://www.klausaudio.com

2 12" Audiobahn 800 watt each (next in line for upgrade to XXX's)

1st amp Audiobahn 8002T 800 Watt (cooked this baby)

2nd and current amp Audiobahn A2200HC 1,600 watt RMS @ 1 ohm

Audiobahn cap

first 4-gauge wire > upgraded to 2-gauge

Dynamated

Go big at the beginning lol. I would have saved a lot.

Good luck with your system
