How To Wire My Amp and Subs Correctly?

Hey everyone. I'm not completely sure on how this works. I think I have it right. but I'm not sure so if anyone could please confirm this for me I'd appreciate it.

I have a JL Audio 12w6 Sub. thats 300w RMS

I wired it with coils in Parallel so that a 6 ohm speaker like mine will present a 3 ohm load. If you look at this link. The Second page has a Wire diagram, the top left one with a single amp to a single sub wired from 6 ohm to 3 ohm is what I did.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/8-12W6_BDS.pdf

So can anyone just tell me is that all I need to do?

As in now that I have wired that correctly. Now I just run a speaker wire positive and negative from the sub box, to the amp. and is there any certain way I need to hook it up. As I have the Polk Audio PA600.1 It's a Mono amp thats 300w RMS x 1 at 4 ohm. and it's 400 watts RMS x1 at 2 ohm load.

So do I need to do anything special to get it to Run at the 2 ohm level. or is that all done on How you wire the Sub?? Do I just run a wire from a positive to a positive, and a neg to a neg. or do I need to take one of each pos, and of each neg. and run those.. to bridge it or whatever.

lol sorry, I'm new to some of this stuff.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Cool, Thanks guys. Ya I just wasn't sure if I needed to do anything to the amp. or if it was only the sub.. I was confused with bridging it I think. lol.

Anyways all hooked up and good. It's so powerful for a single 12. I know it's nothing like some of you guys here have. but I think it's better than the RF Power T1 I had before. or maybe I think that cuz It's on a better amp and can just pound better.

Anyways I had another question if anyone might know. on my JVC KD-AVX44 deck. it has a setting called High Pass Filter. choices are ON, or Through. When I select on.. the sub doesn't hit as hard. but sounds decent. when I set it to through. it's SOOO **** loud. and the bass is just so powerful. is on, using the decks filter, and through letting it go through to the amp? if that makes sense. cuz I'm not sure what it's for.. Also There is a nob on the amp that says LPF and has a 0-250 (I think) and I'm not sure what that is either.

Also on the amp the Bass EQ (Boost) switch is on off, and the Subsonic Filter is off also, and then there is a Phase Switch thats 0, and 8db. I have that at 0 also.

those things are all just fine tuning for personal preference right.?

ur powering a w6 off of a polk 600.1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

boooo! give it more!

So question. When you guys change and get a new sub in your car/truck. Does your body and brain have to get used to the new sub, how it hits and the air it moves. as I remember getting some RF 12's after my 2 12" infinity's. and it would give me a headache, then it stopped. and same thing when I moved to my Power T1.. it gave me a headache, but eventually I got used to it and was fine to pound it. Because I now have installed this 12w6 in my truck. and it pounds soo hard, much more than my rockford Power T1 ever did, maybe thats the better amp. thats probably it. But ****, it gives me SUCH a headache just on a quick drive, or even while watching a movie. Even if I turn it down. it still Thumps enough to trash my brain.

Do I just need to get use to it. as I have with others.. Does anyone else ever have this problem when they get a new sub. Have to get used to the new ones sound, air movement etc..? lol
