how to tap fuse?

Can someone tell me how to tap a fuse? I am planning on installing a head unit and I have a 01 Grand Am Gt, and I know for sure that I have to tap a fuse or any ignition wire, since the wiring with this car is goofy. I know I have to extend the 12v acc. wire over to the fuse box, but I don't know what to do from there. Thanks in advance for any help.

I usually tap the ignition harness. It's accessable deep inside the radio cavity, to the left; tap into the heavy gauge brown wire, and put a fuse on your new wire (3a or 5a will be fine).

Ever used one? They're a PITA when you're trying to use them with Mini-ATC fuses, like the ones in all the newer GM vehicles with data bus radios. I'll tap the ignition harness every time, especially when it's right there in the radio cavity anyway.

strip about 1/2 inch of insulation off, pull out a fuse that is switched by the ignition, stick the wire underneath and reinsert the fuse.
