How to get more low low end?

Umm, I don't pay for food
Well I was listening to late nite tip as I went out for a drive and I noticed when the song drops to that LOW LOW note, there really isn't that much output...It seemed my L7 was a lot louder at that freq.

My question is does the SSF have anything to do with this? I have it set around 20hz (I think, it may be at like 35hz, IDK) but it's hard to tell exactly where it is set because there aren't marking except for at the beginning and end of the SSF dial.

So if I lower my SSF will this allow the sub to wang on those low notes?

I want some other input, thanks!

well that "low low note" on late night tip is 33 hz IIRC, so if your SSF is set at 35 hz, then yes, lowering it will get significantly louder
Well it's hard to tell what it's set at....it's bolted to the back of my seat and it's pretty hard to see it.

My box tuning is ~30hz, so Should I set it at 20hz? If so, where would you say 20hz is at?

There's a better picture....not my amp btw (that first picture).

15hz to 35hz
well in that case, in the exact middle is probably 25

the only way to really tell is play the test tone that you want to set your SSF at, and turn the dial untill it gets fully audible, then back off a hair

edit, if thats the settings you put on before you install the amp, its either 15 hz or 28 hz, hard to tell

That picture was taken a year ago. It's straight up or around there. How do you calcuate your rolloff?

You only need a subsonic filter if you risk bottoming out the sub at max volume below tuning.

A good way of setting the SSF is to play some tones below tuning at a moderate to low volume level. Watch the sub's excursion while playing lower and lower frequencies and see where it seems to really start moving. Once you find a frequency that could cause over excursion at high volumes, take note of it. Turn your SSF at it's highest setting and then play that tone you picked out. Slowly turn the volume up to max and watch out for overexcursion. If you get to the max volume you listen to and there is no overexcursion, keep playing the tone and slowly turn the SSF down until the sub starts to look like it's struggling. At this point, slightly turn the filter up. Once you think you found a safe spot, play some tones at about 3/4 volume below the frequency you set the filter at and make sure it does not look like it might bottom out.

That will give you a nice and safe setting. Will it boost the 30-33hz region? I'm not betting on it.

That's really what I'm looking for. A boost in that region.

Does "Bass EQ" have anything to do with it? I only have that set @ 1/4.
