lol clipping, not chipping. If they dont' feel warm I doubt the smell was the coils getting hot. Usually if the coil is hot enough to really burn up the glue, your cone should at least be warm to the touch. Anyway going from 2 type R's in a shitty prefab to a wall with 6 12's is a big jump. Especially since your wall would most likely **** and you'd probably break your car in the process. Or pay a shop ALOT (ie thousands) to do it. It's not something you just jump into. I'd work on building or having someone build you a good ported box for the subs you have now and then go from there.
