How to calculate woofer displacement?

Is there any easy method / online calculator to determine the woofer displacement of a particular woofer?

My sub didn't come with any specs execpt for the thiele/small parameters. I've done a bunch of online searches but only came up with two methods. Once was to dunk the sub in a bucket of water and determine how many liters of water was displaced. The other was an elaborate formula based off of the distance between the surround and the bottom of the magnet.

I tried the later, and came up with a figure of .27ft^3. Is that not fairly large for a 10" sub? The sub in question is a CSS SDX10.

yea theres a real easy way........read the specs of the sub

edit: reading > me , i didnt read that you didnt have the specs

I'm checked google a few times, do you have a link to a site your referring to?

I checked JL's site, because they list the driver displacement of their subs. The mounting depth and magnet diameter of my sub fall roughly between the 10W3 (0.049cu.ft) and the 10W6 (0.068cu.ft). Would it be a safe bet to just use 0.05 as a arbitrary number?

Are there other factors involved in the driver displacment that I'm overlooking?

this is the best way

I would email CSS for the number. The SDX10 is a pretty big moofer.
I don't have an exact number but I'd say between 2 and 3 litres. It's really not that critical for this type of application. 16 oz stuffing is good.

Just in case anyone was wondering.....so around .07 to .105 cu.ft.

Thanks for everyone's replies.
