How should I tune my radio?

I have a Pioneer DEH-150 and a kicker l5 with a dx 500.1 amp. I just got the sub so I still have everything pretty low gains/bass but on the head unit besides the HPF filter is there anything else I should be looking at to make sure I'm getting good sound from my in car speakers?

First time owning a sub so I'm not sure I have everything right.

For clean sound, avoid using bass boost and loudness setting and don't turn the bass adjustment on the HU up. Also, setting the gain low could very well rob you of power. It's not a volume control, it's a voltage matching pot and it needs to be set properly in order to get max power from the amp without clipping/distortion.

The gain isn't all the way down it's just a little under half I just got the sub put in last week and was told I should gradually increase the gain weekly to let the sub break in. Thank you for the info !
