How should I run some Boston PRO60's?

I've got my system all picked out (and half of it ordered so far)

Edit: Forgot to mention that this is all going into a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

What I've got picked out is...

Pioneer DEH-P80MP Deck

1x 15" Kicker L7 (2006)

Ported box tuned to 38Hz

Power Acoustik A3000db Amp

Audiopipe 3000w 0 gauge amp kit

Now, I've decided to not just go straight bass, and actually set a front stage.

Since I've heard nothing but good things about the Boston Pro60's, I've decided to go with them for around $300 shipped, brand new. Not bad.

But still being rather new to car audio, I'd like to know what a good amp would be to run these. Or how I should set them up. I have stock infinity gold components, which aren't bad at all, but the front driver's side is slightly blown due to previous owner abuse.

All suggestions and help are/is greatly appreciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And how well would this system work without any electrical upgrades? (lol)

Don't get me wrong, I plan on at least doing the big 3, but still being noob, I'd probably just hand someone else the instructions and some money. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks in advance.

I also forgot to include a question...

is there perhaps a decent Power Acoustik amp that would push the Boston Pro60's well? I have this thing about matching amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks.

why is class d being brought up for speakers?

try an orion 8002, or there was a kenwood amp that was cheap that woul do about 200@3ohms, some of the PA amps are nice, just get one with a litle extra over what you need

that aren't too many full range class D amps out there. but there are some namely the new alpine pdx amps and also eclipse carries full range class D amps. xtant had some as well.

the only reason people think that class D is bad for speakers is because most class D amps are mono amps used for subs, in which the frequency response of the amp is limited to 20hz -300hz or so.

Okay, I'm ashamed I never took the time to learn this. I'm far from a newb when it comes to car audio, but I don't know the difference between the amp classes. What does it mean? Can someone explain it to me in simple terms?

I run a PPI A600.2 to my Pro 60s, and it works great. What class is that amp?

TIA

The class refers to the topology of the output stage. Your PPI is a class A/B as are most amps built today. Class A's are the cleanest and best sounding, but you basically need to back them in ice because they run so hot. Phass Labs had some incredible class A's back in the day, but they could never sell because they just were not feasable. Class D's are the switching or PWM's used mostly in sub amps. There are also class G, H and T which you see once and a while. One isn't necessarly better than the other, just different. Each has it's own advantages/disadvantages.

Class D simply uses pulse modulation, it really isn't music it reproduces. I use nothing but class A/B myself. This is why I stick to the old PRS line, PRS-X720 etc.

i would stay away from xtant. they are really sensitive to ohm load and they are really sensitive to voltage.
