how should I mount this to my floorpan? (with pics)

I built a new center console, this one here:

I'm going to have to figure out a way to keep it from sliding around/tipping over. I thought it would be fine sense it's bottem heavy, but I took sharp turn today and it tipped over onto my leg.

I tried velcro already and it didn't work - it wouldn't stick to the carpet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this thing to stay? Any tricks of the trade?

Does the top come off?? You can put some "L" brackets inside.

Yes, so I wouldn't be able to use brackets on the inside.

I guess I could staple the velcro side that sticks to the carpet so that it doesn't come off.

Any other ideas?

What about a few sheet metal screws. Just make sure you dont hit any thing under the car. Or a few neo magnets if they are strong enough.

well if there is a bottom to it like a flat surface underneath the console you can use some galvanized hex hd neo-washer screws from home depot. "self taping screws" that have a rubber seal on a washer and go from under the car and in to the console.

i have had to use that method on several enclosures and it works very well and since they have the rubber seal, water does not leak in to the car at all. but for extra safety you can cover the screw with 100% silicone. to make sure they are sealed.

Sorry for the shitty drawing, but I'll explain it.

You can make an offset brackets with a piece of flat metal, bend it in a vice to the shape above and drill some screw holes in it. Make 4 of them, attatch 2 to the bottom of your console and 2 to the floor board.

Mount an L bracket or two on the back of the console to secure it to the floor board. You may have to put the L bracket on opposite from the way its drawn.

The console can be slid into place and the secured with the L bracket.
