Most police officers I feel do the best they can considering how stressful and difficult their jobs can be. Even in small towns and cities their lives are in jeopardy, and most people they have to deal with are jerks, kind of like original poster. I don't blame the filming laws, how much can you tell from an edited, grainy, shaky crappy cell phone video?

1) they just dont want us not to film them.... they want the camera in the police car inadmissable. I guess the public can tamper with that too and make it look lke the officer did wrong.

2) my job is stresful too, if I f^ck up I get fired just like anybody else on the planet. but I chose my proffesion just like the leo's did. If they can't handle it and act professionally....GTFO

idk but cops getting off easier than regular citizens is ridiculous. They should be held more accountable than most people for crimes committed on duty, and excessive force should get them more than a slap on the wrist.

I've always said only certain types of people become cops. It's true.

Excactly. in some cases where the camera was ON in the police car.... and the officers conduct is in question. oops the camera wasn't working.

the police unions are fighting this tooth and nail. like I said if the leo's have nothing to hide and they did their job correctly why can't it be filmed.

there was a local case here in my town where a cop got sh^t faced and was spouting off in a bar.. was filmed by a bystander and put on youtube. the next day the cheif of police and the officer in question showed up at the residence where that person was staying. demanding that they be given the film. claiming a fedral wire tap charge.

look this up on youtube.. personally I really don't think this cop did anything wrong, but the next morning showing up demanding the film and threatening with federal wire tapping charges the next day? come on.

To protect the citizens and well as the police. It's not always 100% effective, but it helps. Unfortunately, people still shoot cops and cops still shoot people.

In this case I think it was more about embarassment for the cop. iirc he didn't get into any trouble, nor do I think he should have. I just have a problem with them threatening with federal charges... b.s. charges to get the phone off the dude. they had no warrant no nothing.

I think all cop cars and officers themseles should have a camera on them. If theres a decression let a judge be the judge. If for some reason the cameras werent working ...throw it out of court.

We should be able to record the police. If a cop breaks the law I wouldn't be surprised if the video camera just happened to be off or the footage disappeared... the OP had it coming because he was being a douche, not because of the camera.

Most of the time were there is a descression the camera was off or in the wrong position.bla bla bla. like I said police and their unions are fighting this.(camera's in the car) gee why wouldn't they want their actions to be recorded.

but yes op was a retard and should have drove away and fought it in court. you cant win on the side of the road with a leo.
