I currently have 1200 RMS and I feel it is very loud. Seeing as it is all personal preference, I can see a bit more or less for each person. So i chose the 1000-2000. Seems to make sense to me. I'd say no more than 2 big 1000-1500 watt amps should really damage your hearing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This will be the first in a series of what I hope will be educational surveys. Choose one of the above and explain if you feel you need to. The question is referring to a system for listening to music in a daily driver. How much power do you think you need for your subs?
Well, for me it wasn't a matter of how much I thought my subs needed. It was a matter of how much I wanted to feed them. My subs are rated at 300 rms and 1200 peak. I emailed Pioneer to ask them if that rms rating was (per coil) or the whole sub but they never got back with me of course....they're notorious for that. But anywho I'm giving them about 300 rms per coil (or 600 rms) total and they sound very sweet and yes its my daily driver.

i give mine 400w, and that seems plenty (even though i'm a huge dweeb and clicked on the wrong choice). i've got a friend with a RF 8" in his stock SE-R, and it gets plenty loud too (can't be getting more than 100w). i don't think power matters; just the sound for the individual. i figure under 500 is probably more than enough to put some bass in your sound, if you're not interested in raping the ears of the innocent.

Are you asking what the subwoofer amp/s do for power at the lowest recommended impedence given the appropriate voltage?
i'd say use the power you are currently pulling from the amp....not max rms

but this isn't even my thread...what do i know

It depends on the car, I had a toyota paseo and 700wrms pounded the F*ing bajeebers out of it w/ 2 12s. I put the same system in my toyota solara, and it was pretty weak. I think 1000 - 1500 wrms is a good number for pretty much any car, its generally the cut off point before you have to start doing serious electrical work to your car.

I think a BIG variable in this is if your enclosure(s) is/are vented or sealed.

Right now my one 15" in a vented box with 1500wrms is overkill. But I tried my matching 15" sub in the recommended sealed enclosure with 1500wrms, and it was loud, but not excessive like the other one vented.

I'd say 1000-2000wrms.

mostly depending on ur subwoofer needs and elctrical system i would say between 800rms -1400rms. Anything mroe excessive then that the person doing it has to wear ear protection or be deaf for the rest of his life .

My amp puts out 160w rms. And its enough to hurt and make my ears ring, sometimes I like to have a lil more pound but my truck has a small cab and its enough. So I would say anything from 100-1000 depending on what your looking for.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I voted for 2000+ b/c that's what I plan on doing in the future and I'm crazy like that!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D

I would suggest 80 ah of yinglong lithium and a H/O alternator. I'm running 40 ah with a 320 alternator on a 3.5K and it isn't enough.

Oh, just for future reference. Put $800 OBO, or you will only get that $600, or less. ;)
