How much louder is an hdc3 vs. type r

Yea. I'd prefer to stay new on everything, though if I come across a deal I can't refuse I might go for it. Otherwise, i'd rather pay a little more for new.

So i'm pretty much decided on the R. Just have two questions- the amp, and if anybody's heard a Q, i'd just be curious as to how they compare as well.

EDIT: I've seen the gain setting tutorials before, but thanks anyways! All the advice iv'e gotten in less than an hour is amazing..

Fi car audio Q's are supposed to be a very good all around subs. Good spl and sq much like the new Icon's

the Fi Q is just an all-around better sub than the type-r. better accuracy, better power handling. The type-r would only beat out the Q in a pure SPL battle, that's it.

It would probably sound better, and yea that amp is a good match (for both) from what i hear/read. BUT the R off of 1200 in a good box would be louder..

I'm curious to hear from someone who has heard both also

Thanks, I was just wondering cause that's the only other sub i've heard...though off a kicker 1000.1.

no I think the hdc3 would be a better choice....biased no, just on the 2..... and have heard both in a couple of different setups

Is there maybe a cheaper amp that wouldnt' be pushing the sub so hard?

As much as I do want spl, I also don't want to burn up my sub. i've heard the aq1200 is putting out 1400 watts.

Maybe something in the 800-1000 watt range? I'd be willing to sacrifice some deebeez to have the peace of mind that my sub isn't frying up in the trunk.
