How much louder is an hdc3 vs. type r

Got my first car two days ago. I was pretty much set on an hdc312/aq1200, but I was just wondering how it would compare to a type r off of ~700 watts. Obviously the hdc will be louder, but how much of a difference will it really be?

As my budget is tight, the type r's are extremely cheap. I'm mainly looking for spl, which you can see from my sub choices.

All in all- would it be worth it to invest in the audioque? It's not only the sub itself that's going to cost me more, but the toll it will take on my electrical as well.

Someone who has owned both care to enlighten me?

I was thinking of running the type r off of a hifonics 1206 (which is supposed to put out around 7-800 actual) if it makes a difference.

I'm still thinking about this. Quite a big price difference, so I just want to know how big the performance difference that goes along with it will be.

yea more is always better....atleast that is what I have earned......and I believe the AQ equipment will satisfy you a lot more in the long run

the way i see it...both of them will be pretty nice...most is on box and electrical, big three.

both subs can get loud, but the hdc3 can handle music at high volumes much better than the type-r. But really its all about the box on how much louder the hdc3 will be. Plus, the sub can take much more power than 1200wrms. If you ever wanted more, you could always upgrade your amp later on the hdc3, not the case for the type-r

Type-r's are definitely good subs for the money, nobody can argue that.

A type-r on 800-900 watts daily will be fairly loud, though I think either setup will need some electrical upgrades. At least the big 3 and a newer/larger battery up front.

I think that the Type R would be more of a stepping stone. A good sub for the money, but think you would shortly want more
