im giving my idMAX about 784watts (56 volts) with a -6 dB 50hz test tone at full volume (28).. after tuning and tuning and making my system sound so much better i now feel like turning the gain up on my amp to give it a little more wattage but the thing is the VC is configured in 4 ohm (series - dual 2 ohm sub) and i dont know if i can turn the gain up anymore to get more unclipped power from the amp without messing something up.. what can go wrong if i turn the gain up to put out 1000 watts RMS, the rated RMS, from my modified mtx 1501d??? will the signal clip or something?

ps - its 2.0 cubed ported tuned to 32hz

are you measuring amperage?
i dont have an ammetter..my alternator is rated 60 amps and im getting about 14 volts at the battery with a voltmeter.. so would this mean i could actually produce 840 watts (60 x 14 = 840) if my alternator were putting out 60 amps?

why not wire down to 1ohm and turn the gain down?
would that be more safe than running it in 4 ohms pushing 1000 watts? im just afraid i might ruin the seal between the subwoofer and the enclosure by taking the sub out. not that there is any kind of sealan or anything around the sub, but im skeptic about screwing the screws bacc in the holes. am i too paranoid about that? i just want the most airtight enclosure possible.. well its ported but u know what i mean.

well, theres no way you'll be getting anywhere around 1000 watts from that amp at 4ohms listening to music. You have to measure the amperage in order to get an accurate reading on what power the amps doing.

Wire it to 1ohm and back the gain accordingly

As far as the screws go, id just suggest putting em in where the cut-out is facing up so they go in straight and not over tightening em.
