How many watts can I run on a 100a alt w/ 0awg

I plan to run a dsk1500.1 (1500x1 @ 1) for my subs and a dsk4125 (120x4 @ 4) for my spkrs for a total of 2000 watts on 0awg cable to my stock 100a alt. Is this just setting my self up for problems or will I be fine?

subs: 2 12" type r's (600rms dual 4)

spkrs: type r 6.5 front and 6x9 rear (100rms 4ohm)

Batt: DieHard 750cca (not sure on all the specs) But I know its a good strong bat as I live in ND were it gets down to -35 and it'll crank my 3.0 v6 w/o problems.

I'm pretty close to that except for the highs amp will be only 80x4 at most. similar alt and 2awg to 1500 and 4 gauge to highs amp, also running 2x Type R's

should be fine

Get a better AGM batt. I just picked up a 75AH Diehard Platinum

You wouldn't happen to be running a MB Q dsc480 to 4 type r speakers would ya?

2awg for Big3 too, or just one run of 2awg?

Are those the 4th gen R's rated @ 600rms? If so how do they like that amp? Do they feel like the could handle more? What enclosure?

Is that like Diehards best batt or something? How much? How does it compare to say a yellow top or a DEKA(in performance not cost)? I like Diehards my self, just curious to what you opinion is. You seem quite knowledgeable and helpful cuz you've answered a few of my Q's b4 and I see you all over the board sharing wisdom?

Thanks for the help turbo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbcool.gif.25d3f515a7f948dd6be51428263071ef.gif

Yup 2awg for big 3 and 4th gen R's, but have not installed them yet. Currently running a single 15 at 800rms. For the R's I have to make a 2 peice box so it will fit in my trunk. Planning on 4.5cubes after sub/port displacement, tuned to 30-35 havent decided but they still look better than the single 15" I have even tuned to 35hz in winISD.

I have a memphis 75x2 to run the highs(fronts only) but may get a bigger amp for them like the MB Quart DSC 480.

On the Diehard Platinums, then seem to have more power then the Deka yellow tops, although the Platinums are manufactured by Deka. I just bought one yesterday they had an online deal for $123.74 + tax, but now there back up to $190

I forgot to add that I just bought LED's for pretty much every light in my car(dash included) to help my pitiful alt out.

You plan on replacing the 2 for 0 b4 you run the 1500 and 480? I'll check into that DH platinum, How does the optima yellow top compare to the deka 9A31? I take it as the DieHard platinum ftw over the optima and deka(platinum/Deka/Optima)?

Is you box 4.5cu per chamber or total, and what type of port? Got any blueprints?

I'm interested in building a box this winter and need some ideas. I using a cheap pre fab shared center vented box that actually doesn't sound to bad, but I need a custom enclosure. I made the mistake of buying an Atrend prefab transmission vented box that was 1.9 per chamber tunned to 38hz and WOW did it sound like a big floppy fart... All I could hear was port noise, no bass at all, none. I've never heard a more pathetic box, it sounded like the subs were just free airing in my trunk. Here's a pic of the pos. Untitled Document

I have heard good things about Atrends SPL box's though or just the design in general, and would like to build something similar. They're 2.5cu Idk the tuning freq but here's a pic. Untitled Document

Theres this guy on YT that had a single type r 12 in a big horn vented enclousure (IDK the specs) running on a brutes 1600 and OMFG can you say FLEX!!!! Check it out... Hes running a 15" FI BL now in a L port box and WOW orgasmic LOLZ.

Type R

Nope plan on keeping the 2gauge for big 3

The 9A31 is a bigger batt then the rest, I'm just going for a single batt and the 65 group is about the biggest i can fit in the stock location(group 34 stock). The warranty on the Platinums is the best of all of them, and it has more AH or CCA then the yellow top deka's or optima's

I'm planing of 4.5 cubes total after sub(.2 cubes) and aero port(~.5+ cubes) and bracing. You dont want my blue print as its going to be a custom 2 peice box that bolts together as it wont fit in my trunk opening otherwise.

Yeah nice flex from the single R

Wires and Amperes this for what size wire

no one has givin you an anser to your quesstion yet so let me try to explain 2000 watts plus what the needs of the car will be is going to require a hell of a lot more than 100 amp alt your looking at around 200 amp alt for the job. thats the first thing then you worry about wire size. do a search on calculating watts to amps draw to find out for yourself what size alt and wire.

Your amplifier will never put out the full 2000watts with a stock alt. Sorry if you do not believe that, but you just can not change ohms law. 2000 watts RMS x 0.8 (80% efficient amp (class D)) = 2500watts input. That means you need 2500 watts of input power to produce the full 2000w RMS output.

2500w / 14.4V (running voltage of car) = 173.6Amps (round up to 174 amps)

So to fully power your amp you would need 174 amperes.

Right then add the cars power draw, which with headlights on will be a considerable amount

but his amp at best is 1600rms class D @ 80% efficient(may be 75% efficient) and the other is class A/B I think which will be 500w at 50-60% efficient

so 1600/.8=2000watts and 500/.6=833.3watts, so 2833.3 at best, prob closer to 3000watts if you change efficiency.

And 14.4 is best case again, figure 3000watts / 13.8V = 217 amp draw

But the highs amp prob wont be turned all the way up so that will save you a little, but the car needs power at least 25amps min depending on car and whats running, prob up to 50-60amps

Thats why I got some LED's as it should save me 10amps, not sure about the LED headlights(may not be bright enough or have a crap beam) but that would save me another 5 or so amps

The thing you have to remember is thats pretty much a MAX draw, you'll never see that much draw period. Even if you do a SPL comp if your smart you'll pull the fuse out of your highs amp to save draw.

So I would say his numbers are pretty close to actual

I just bought a 200a powermaster HO alternator on ebay for 175 shipped. Its 130a at idle and 200a at 1200+ rpm This should handle up to 3000w safley right? Any opinions on powermaster alternators?

What kind of Mopar you driving?
I got an 86 W150 SE 318 auto thats got a bare 360 block ready to be stroked and poked to a 408 this winter.

The system I speak of is in an 89 Taurus that I bought 4yrs ago w/80k for $150. ***** started slipping at 100k and now 1.5yr and 20k miles later its still going and hasn't gotten worse so I figure I'll drive it into the ground. I know its ridicules to have a system in such a pos but I figure systems are universal and the only thing I'll lose money on is the alt, unless I can sell it after a year. Apparently all ford alternators are the same from 66-93 except for pulley style so that might be an option. I thought that was odd but awesome at the same time since I found a $350 alt for $175 I couldn't resist the temptation. I love Ebay ... The cheapest 200 amp alt I found for my dodge was $330 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif. Thats ok though cuz that 408 will by music to my ears . Hit me up on cardomain 66MOPARorNoCar66
