how many strands would be a good amount for 4guage wires? the earthquake wiring kit i have the power and ground wires have like 1330 strands or so. but when i put the exposed strands into the gold plated terminals, there is alot of space left inbewteen. is that right? i dont know the exact amout of space but like 1/4 of a inch or so.

Standard 4 Gauge as spec'd by AWG would have 1666 Strands of 36 gauge copper. Using less strands of larger diameter would still yield 4 Gauge as determined by AWG (American Wire Gauge) Not saying that is what EarthQuake did though......

That would be outer diameter - 10mm copper diameter is the size of 1/0, 4 gauge copper diameter is near 6mm so who knows what they are claiming

If the 1330 strands are 36 gauge copper - it is equivialant to 5.5 AWG
