how many sheets of mdf?

It's simple math. Each sheet is typically 49"x97". Find that total area by multiplying them.

49*97 = 4753 inches^2

That's your total area. Now, find the area of each piece you're going to need. Add them all together and you will have your total needed area. Divide that number by the total area per sheet and you will know how many sheets you will use up.

I don't know how you got through middle school.

There will be excess you can't fit some pieces on. This formula doesn't work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I try to use 16" or 12" as any combo of height or depth and I'll explain why...

What is shelving made out of? MDF...

What are the typical size of shelves? 12" or 16" deep...

Why does that matter? 'Cause you can buy 12" or 16" x 48" or 96" pieces...

Again...why? Why go through the hassle of cutting up a 4'x8' when you can just cross rip a 12" deep board AND retain 2 factory edges?

why does everyone keep saying "download cutlist"the only free one you can get is the trial and it only lets you have 5 parts in the list

Top/bottom count as 1. You can also double up on pieces that are similar sized and then trim down the smaller one. Or lay out all the cuts you can fit and add in the last 1-2 by hand, but again that might require some basic math skillz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

2 1/2 sheets per Cut List. Just punched them in. No way to save it as any file type but a .cpx, so I can't paste it in here for you...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
