how many of you use a separate equalizer?

Do many of you guys use a separate eq? I see that Clarion has a popular one but wonder how common it is to use one now adays. Is the HU eq sufficient?
waste of money. Had one back then thought it was the bomb until I got a real SQ head unit then I realized how crappy Graphic EQs are to an actual strong source.

More often than not, even a mid level head unit is better than adding an outboard eq/line driver. They usually create more problems than they solve, especially if you're not familiar with how to set gain overlaps.

So should I throw an EQ on it? What do you recommend?
Do you HAVE to have a dd or are you open to a single din? That would be your best bet. I paid like $130 for my clarion cz702 and it sounded amazing compared to every other head unit ive used..

I have a dd and I guess i could be open to a sd but would rather have a dd. Theirs gotta be a DD out there that can perform right? What is a DSP?

If you don't know how to use the DSP features on a good head unit you might not notice it. They are not plug and play. You have to know how to tune and understand what you are listen for. I'll find a link to give you a idea.
