I just built my first box on my own. Its a 3.25 cu ft (3.06 net cu ft) ported box tuned to 30 hz for a 15 RE SRx. I havent had time to install the sub etc, because ive got it all drying.

I went to home depot to buy the MDF and make the cuts, and I used a box building maker and the cuts were off for the width of the MDF, so needless to say I have pieces on the ends to fill the 3/4" gap on each end that was open. So I used alot of glue and screws to make it as tight as possible and sealed the inside also with RTV Clear silicone. The port and the sub cutout I did with a jigsaw were great I can cut pretty straight.

So after the box is built, I go to put it in my car and it is like 1/8th inch too large to get into the trunk. After removing the weatherstripping and the trunk latch, this and that etc ( I did measure before, but it was too close to guess ) I got it in and ****ing ridiculous tight ( it hits the rear speakers and is VERY snug and not moving.

Any of you had these problems i.e wrong cuts and not fitting in trunk? After like 6-8 hours of cutting and assembly I couldnt help but laugh.

Ill take pics when its all in and done.

Thats why when building a box you NEED to double check your airspace and measurments of your car. Dont feel bad, Ive done this before too..

screwed up cuts i've made many MANY times. But I've lucked out on box fitment, never had one that couldn't get in the trunk somehow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I once was stupid and careless and cut the sub cutouts on the BOTTOM of the box after leaving it for a day or two, just kinda came back to it when I had time and forgot I had flipped the box over or something

Oh well, rebuild

Anybody that tells you they haven't f****d up a box build is lying. Live and learn bro. Definitely gotta know how much room you have to work with prior to drawing up your box. As for the bad cuts, that happens to. Don't try to fill the gaps with glue though, not gonna be worth a chit. Cut another board (buy new sheet of mdf if necessary), it will be worth it in the long run. 75% of my scrap mdf pile is leftover stuff, but 25% is either from bad cuts or bad measurements. Gotta be right before you start slapping glue on it.
