how many miles would you drive on synthetic oil

my truck i will not use synthetic....my truck has a high pressure oil pump so synthetic oil is to thin and a def NO NO
AH HAAA. I have a 4.3l in an S-10 w/hi press. pump. I put synth in and as the engine temp goes up the press goes down. People told me I need to put a shunt on the rear of the engine where the oil runs to the cam. I thought that to be a bad idea. I never knew what caused the problem and thought maybe too much clearance on the cam or crank bearings. When I take it out I am just going to throw in the stock pump. I will may take the cam and crank out/apart to check clearance but now I wonder if it is simply the pump/synth causing the issue?

oil psi ALLWAYS gets lower when a motor gets warm.

 
You can do 5k to 7k, just depends on the vehicle, climate, elavation, and the driver. Just make sure to frequantly check your oil and it never hurts to add an additive before and after each oil change in your crank case and gas tank. I recommend Seafoam, you can pick it up at just about any local autozone and it actually works, went close to 8k miles with my lancer and I drive pretty hard. Heck my brother gets his changed once a year but then again he lives in Switzerland and thier restrictions are extremely high, in other words they only sell very well built cars.

 
you guys that are chaning syn at 3k are just wasting your money and time

unless you drive your car REALLY hard, such as 100mph all the time, high rpms all the time.....basically like Paul walker.

I use mobil 1 and a wix filter, every 7k

everyone has thier fav oil or

oil thier dad used and thats what they are used to

as long as you do the change you will be fine.

Most dino oil will go 5k also.....they just dont advertise it since syn is 2-3x more $$$

 
I go with changing with the seasons as soon as the weather gets nicer or colder than I change it also right before a long trip I change it as well. I know its a wast but i dont care my money and what i like to do. Plus it helps gas mileage.

 
I change mine every 3k-5k with Castrol GTX high mileage(75,000), 10W-40, and a K&N filter. Plus Slick50 every time.

Need to do it again after these past 2 weeks went from Tallahassee to ATL to Nashville back to Tallahassee To SWFL back to Tallahassee in the last two weeks lol.

Why does every body use Mobile1 it seems, do you guys think it is that much better then Castrol and K&n Filters.

 
I was told by the service manager at the local dealership that i should not use synthetic oil. I asked him why, and he said "because it causes engine sludge"
