How many batteries?

Ive been searching because i'm trying to learn about electrical......

I have a stock alternator that does like 80amps in a 05 sentra. Will I be fine doing the big 3 and upgrading my battery under the hood? Adding a second bat in the trunk isnt an option, i have no trunk space left. Do i need two under my trunk? So confused!!

If i upgrd my alt to like a 200amp alt, i heard ill lose a huge amount of horsepower

Opti2000d at 1 ohm, its 1700w

how exactly does changing you alternator affect your motors performance??? i dont think that is correct...

i dont know anything about this, im sorry. I just was told this by a shop that adding a big alt will decrease my HP. I'm going to call iraggi now and get a quote on an alt. if a new alt wont fix my problem, I will then get a red top under my hood.

big 3 would do fine..and get an extra battery..

so my opti2000d is 180amp

my eclipse ea4000 is 60amp

thats 240 amp from my alternator. My stock alt will be fine? Wouldnt my yellowtop I buy to replace my stock under the hood need a big alt to pull from?

yes sometimes having a big alternator can cause you to lose a little bit of horse power, but with that many watts just for your sub you might want to get the 200 amp one. i would also replace your starting battery with an optima redtop and do the big 3 in at least 1/0 guage.

are red tops for single battery applications? I was told redtops were recommended for dual battery apps, and to buy a yellow top.
