How many batteries is enough?

They are running cheap batteries. You really do get what you pay for. All batteries do is keep you above 12.6ish. They only store power, they do store more than a store bought cap but they are basically the same thing. A bandaid.
you're saying batteries are the same thing as a cap? haha

They are. They store what passes over and release when needed. Good batteries have low internal resistance just like caps. They only store if they have something to store, once they are drained they are no good and become a load.... Sounds just like a cap don't it?

I've just always been told caps disperse energy when there is a big bass line that draws a lot of energy and then they are empty and need to charge back up which puts a big drain on your electrical because now you're recharging this cap while powering the system at the same time while batteries disperse energy slowly and not all at once. Its been said that for competition use caps can be somewhat beneficial when you're burping and just need quick energy but for daily use they are more harm than good. So I guess they both store energy yea but what they do with that energy is kinda different. If he is getting the proper alt and wire to sustain a charge for the batts he wants then why would them being drained completely even come into play? By your logic and not going into depth you make it seem like he can just run a bunch of caps and have a fine electrical since you say they're the same thing.

A battery below 12v is a load. A good battery will release just as fast as a cap. That's why we use good batteries that cost more but you don't need 7 of them for 7k. They also charge to a float charge much faster. Just like a cap. The difference is at 12v the battery has reserve current which can maintain itself but it don't last long. A cap does not have a reserve. Above 12v they act the same.

If he has the proper alt to hold the battery charge why would he ever have to worry about going bellow 12v and turning that battery into a load? And I never said that he needs 7 batteries I said the dudes I have talked to that actually have nice 7k-8k setups usually all have 6-8 100ah batteries. Now I've definitely seen 7k amps ran off 2 of those higher end northstar agm 220 batts but those are pretty pricey. So I was simply saying that if he wants to run 100ah batteries I have talked to people with daily 7k setups who suggest running about 7 100ah batteries obviously with the proper alt as well
