How many batteries is enough?

I'm building the biggest system I've ever built before and I'm a little hung up on how many extra batteries i should have. I'm looking at a total of about 7k watts. 4,200 of that is to subs, the rest to the other drivers. I've got a Stinger 1750 under the hood and I've got two 2150s to put in the back near the amps. Will two be enough or should I get a couple more? Thanks.

I think the general rule is 55 ah of batt for every 1000 watts

That doesn't sound right. A stinger SPP2150 has the following Ah ratings, 20 hour rate: 5.25A/105Ah, 5 hour rate: 17.8A/89Ah and 1/2 hour rate:130A/65Ah. At 55 Ah/1kw, This rather large battery would only be good for 1,500 watt amp? Give or take. Stinger claims the battery is good up to 4,200 watts I think, but manu claims and real world applications often differ, so I was hoping to get the inside scoop from people who are used to working with systems this large.

I'm also looking into the Maxwell Technologies ultracapacitors. I was thinking that maybe the two 2150 batteries I have now combined with two banks of ultracaps might be a better solution. Does anybody here mess with ultracaps?

You need alternators first than add batteries

pffft alternators are for squares... I am running the batteries in my signature off a stock alternator.

Michael Singer is building me an alt now. The system is still in the planning preconstruction phase. I just tore the old system out and am prepping for the new system. Ordering parts, applying more damping materials, etc. Unfortunately I cannot find a dual alt bracket for my truck, so I'll be making due with the one alternator.

Run what you have now. Make sure the grounds are good and the power is clean. I could hold 14+ with a 300 amp singer and 3 total D3400s on 6k. Idle would drop but that's going to happen

I ran a DC5k and SSXXX1000D of stinger 1500 upfront 2 2150's in the back plus a DC300SPX. Never had an issue.

Your electrical is gunna be costly man. youre definitely going to need more than 2 of those batteries. I'm going to be running 5100 wrms in a couple weeks and im getting 4 100ah batteries hoping to stay in the high 13's at idle. I've talked with a few dudes running 7k and 8k setups and most of them are running about 6-8 100ah batteries. Talk to @mylows10 about it, He had an 8k setup not too long ago and was running 7 batts in the rear I believe

They are running cheap batteries. You really do get what you pay for. All batteries do is keep you above 12.6ish. They only store power, they do store more than a store bought cap but they are basically the same thing. A bandaid.

OP, are you competing/burping or is this a daily system? Going to make a big difference.
