how long should my computer take to defrag?

When you are defragging, you don't even want to touch your computer. You don't want anything to cache that would make defragging pointless. Turn off everything you can, programs, antivirus... etc, and let it run over night. I does take hours though, so be patient.

Well when gta iv starts getting choppy and crashing after a month, you have to uninstall it, defrag your computer, install new drivers, and reinstall. Really, really bad ported game. Otherwise it will run choppy because it annihilates hard drives

been defragging for 3hr 15 minutes as of now, im about to say **** it

Take all the **** off of it next time before you start. Sped up my defrag times drastically. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Vista is set to defrag on a schedule by default; most manufacturer's set it to defrag on a nightly or weekly basis, usually starting at 3 am. If you leave your computer on the night it's set to defrag, it should be done by the time you wake up (unless you happen to wake up at 6 am).

Defragmenting barely helps performance on modern OSes anyways, so I'm not sure why you're worrying so much about it ...
