how do i pickamp and speaker wires

hello all

i have just purchased jbl 608gti's and will be running the jbl px600.2 @ 180 rms x 2 i also have the slash jl 300/2 running them with jl w3v2 hobandpass @ 300 rms along with an alpine head unit... but im iffy on how to pick an amp wiring kit 000 do we base the radius of the power line and speaker cables on the maxium wattage of the amps together or the rms rating... ie do we say get like a 2awg power wire and a power distributer connecting the amps with 4 awg... anyways i just want to know if we look at the maximum wattage of the whole system or the rms wattage when picking up a wiring kit

i could barely follow you but based on your amps, 4 gauge to a distro with 8 gauge would be the minimum. i personally would like to run 1/0 gauge to a distro with 4 gauge out so you don't have to upgrade. also go by rms power and never peak

so say you have an amp that is able to accept a 8-4 guage wire we should go with the biggest wire that is acceptable...

ok so for mine i will go with a 1/0 to distributer and from the distributer 4 out to the amps-- i also have monster 1 farad cap should each amp get its own cap or can i wire it in a way so that it will feed both amps... i am asking this because you say to go based on rms so my rms is about 660 rms total and i was thinking that 1 farad should be good enough...

one more question =---

should i run a fuse in between for both amps after the distibuter to give the amp an extra level protection.

lose the cap and do the big 3 in 1/0 battery+ to alt +, battery negative to chassis ground, motor to chassis ground. run 1/0 to a dist 4 to each amp and make sure oyu have a good ground. if you wanna fuse the amps in the trunk and at the battery with a foot of the battery. you can buy a fused dist block.
