How Do I Hook an amp up @ home?

If I am doing this properly, that is only 720w @ 100% effeciency...which is not much. Hopefully my math is wrong, as I'd like to be able to hook up 12v amp in home as well.
Home audio amps are too expensive.
Hence why someone said earlier that if it's over 500w or so it would not be cost effective as you'd either have to run multiple supplies or find a HUGE one which would likely be more expensive then a home audio amp..

thanks X, i had no idea what i should have been looking for

Also, here's another one with a 60A +12V rail:

And, 2 40A rails:

I'm not sure if you can utilize both 12V rails to make the second one equivalent to a single 80A rail, but I'm sure depending on how it gets wired up this is possible..

Not positive though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Given that 60A on 12V rail, what would be the "largest" amp you'd try to run? 500w? I didn't know if there was a rule of thumb % reduction.

Ie 720w suuply = 500w amp

I keep a regular 12v car battery fully charged. I hook my amps up to it for short term testing only. I use a Novak power supply to run the remote wire. Just run the + from power supply to remote on the amp, and the - from the power supply to the - on the battery. It works well for testing.

I'm not exactly sure how the wattage ratings work for a power supply, but basically calculate for wattage from amperage using about 80% efficiency since that's what most PSU's tend to be running at. At least that's how I would figure it out.

I wouldn't want a battery in my house though....they look tacky.
Imo a yellowtop looks nicer than a pc power supply //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Much easier to use, plus you can add extra batteries if you like, plus I'm pretty sure its alot easier to resell a nice car battery in the future than a couple hundred dollar power supply.

With a power supply, you are also very strictly limited as to how much power you can run, whereas a single battery can cover you for a huge amount of power for short periods of time, or multiple batteries can handle it for relatively long periods of time as well, depending on the battery.
