Since most of you guys practically wrote the book on installs, and im a n0ob, i was hoping youse guys could give a young'n some advice as to how to hook an amp/sub up to a standard 110v wall socket, if there is a way. I want to be able to do this for multiple reasons, one being to be able to test shit without having to be outside in the dead of winter and moving all my shit around in my trunk, and also so i can hook an amped sub up to my home audio speakers. is this shit even possible? to convert 110v to 12v? my dad's a musician and my brothers an electrical engineer, but i figured id try you guys, because neither of them know much about CAR audio. help a nugga out? i see all these videos of people blowing their subs up plugged into a 220v socket, and i feel like if i tried to do something like that i'd either burn my house down or light my face on fire. anyone got any suggestions for the kid?

Just an older w3 and a 400w amp. which most likely won't be @ max gain. i just want to be able to play around or test shit inside. why not cost effective? too much electricity?

Either snag a computer power supply or a standard 12v supply. What kind of equipment are you hooking up? Anything over 500 watts won't be cost affective to run at home.

get a comp powersupply with a rating of 25amps or more on the 12v rail

one yellow to pos, 1 yellow to rem, and 1 black to ground.

or do like i do and bunch all the black to ground and all the yellow except one to pos

You could try to find a car battery charger that can put out upwards of 30 amps & ghetto rig it, but that could be expensive & potentionally dangerous if wires are exposed.
