How close is too close!

Civic Hatchback, big arsed box... barely fits in the trunk area.

Gives my subs / port about 2-3 inches of clearance off the hatch... is that gonna be too close and degrade my sound (Quality / volume) or should I try and rebuild so I can get it 5-6 inches from the back...

Will it make a difference?

what size port ?

Box is approx 6.25 cubed (outside dimensions) with a 7.5" X 5" X 14" deep port

Seems to be tuned approx 34hz

I may be wrong, but I thought the rule of thumb was however wide your port is is the clearance it should have beyond the port.

Pretty sure thats the "rule" but I would say youd be better off having the proper sized enclosure, then trying to downsize just for a couple more inches of air..2 to 3" should be fine.

Well the box is 5.7^3 with the port being 7.5" tall, and 5" wide at 14" deep... for 2 Premier TS w-2000spl subs (Can't find anything saying what they want for air in vented, but recs 1.5^3 sealed per)

you should be okay, but see if somehow you can get it to like 4-5 inches
