how bad is this???

Ok first off I have an American Bass vfl 100.1 when I turn the car on the amp powers on fine although the protect light comes on. The amp will play fine at low to medium even higher volumes but at the higher volume the amp kicks out until I shut the h/u off and turn it on again. I have searched and cannot find my exact problem I do have a duracell g31 in the back and no voltage drop. Is my amp on its last leg or is it hopefully a minor issue?

Prolly not to bad of a fix. But it will prolly cost you $70+ to get it fixed

So I was at work trying to trouble shoot and make sure I didn't have a bad ground or loose wire some where and when I remove my rca's it comes right out of protect but as soon as I put one in it jumps into protect could it just be bad rca's then?

could be the rca's but also double check the sub voice coils they could be the problem too.
