i bought a temp car. it is a p.o.s. 88 crown vic and im getting a new car in October. problem is i don't want a real system in this temp car but i also can't not have ANY bass till October. so i was wondering that if with a power converter for the 12v cigarette outlet, could i put in a amplifed home subwoofer box worry free of frying anything or getting a nice fire started.

Depends how much power the amp draws.. The wires to the cig lighters usually are not really that big. Most bigger inverteres connect directly to the battery, which would be ALOT safer.. If it doesnt pull much power, it should be fine on the cig lighter i guess.

Well the pics show that the sub only pulls 60 watts of power.. Cuz that is the power it needs to run, not the power output of the amp i am assuming since its right next to the 120v.. I would think it would be fine through the cig lighter if the inverter is only like around 100 watts or so..

Anyways, with that little powered sub i dont think its going to get very loud in the car.. But it may since its going to be in a smaller place. What i would do is just test it out first by running an extension cord and see if it even gives you any added bass in the car..
