Have a dc 2.0k coming and current stock batt in the trunk. Upgrading big 3 in a few days. Question is should I go with a 270 amp ho alt from Mechman for 349 plus shipping or do you guys think an extra batt will hold my voltage up just fine? Stock alt is 130 amp I believe.
Extra batt will do just fine for 2k. Ive been running my 150.1 on stock alt, no big 3 and just a single khc-1200 and its been holding up fine. I have not losed a single show and hit higher than some people in the next few classes up from me. I know big 3 can do wonders but what does this tell ya?!

yes he will be fine with an extra bat. but why not have the overhead with the big alt.
Why not have overhead with a new and cheaper battery as well? Either way, both will be needed and why not take the cheaper route now without going overboard if you don't have to?

IMO, Kinetik or XS Power are the way to go but again that's just my opinion. If you really wanna get crafty and set yourself up nice, get a KHC-1800 for under the hood and run another in the trunk if the price on them is right.

My under the hood batt is in the trunk :0. Also I was thinking of the diehard platinum series bc of the great warranty and they are great batts from what I hear. Would be a sweet deal if sears had a sale on them!

yeah, I shoulda realized that from your sig. Well a KHC-1800 under the trunk..... LOL

Shoot, my boy I mentioned in another thread is running the Lanzar Opti1400D in his cobalt with a KHC-1800 all off of stock alt and no big 3. His box is similar to CAT MANs but with 2 Opti 12's port on the drive side. He's serving up 146's

I'll be running a dc 2.0k at .5 ohms with my stock 150 amp alt and an extra battery in the back. Most likely gonna be a kinetic 1800 or similar. I'm expecting to not drop much below 12.5 full tilt. A 270 amp alt through mechman is 700 dollars for me.

Sorry, it was actually the Opti1900D not 1400. The best part of his build is, he's allowed to go up to 5k RMS and isnt. Other dudes in his class are using 5k's and he's beating them LOL

You really need to get on a meter when your done and see what you can hit. It would be nice to see some new people in the rookie 1 and woofer cooker 1 class
