Alright, I am new here, hello...i'm Sean. Now that i got that out of the way. I recently installed four Legacy 12" 500w L series subs with two UltraLinear Series 2 800w monoblock amps. The problem is, i have the subs hooked up in parallel so that they are 2 ohms on each side wired up, which the amp is supposed to be stable at 2 ohms. But, when i turn them up, the amps kick off and the protection lights come on...i don't get it....and stranger yet, is that they were in my friends car before and hooked up exactly the same, but did just fine. Can anyone offer any advice?? something to try, maybe an obvious solution?

Sean

i have, everything, at first it was just doin it on the drivers side, but it was because one sub on the pass side was unplugged and the one was pushin 4 ohms...that amp was doin just fine...but then when i hooked it back up, that amp started doin it too

Describe your wiring system. Sand all paint and everything away from your grounding points. What voltage is the meter on your dash dipping down to?

Bad ground would be my first bet if you otherwise have sufficient wiring.

i've got them hooked to a 1.6f cap that has an 8awg from the battery. no modifications to the car yet. i was watchin the voltage on the cap and it's stayin up, droppin to 12 at the worst, stayin about 13.5-14.2 most of the time. for grounding, the cap and each amp have an 8awg to a screw in the floor.

problem one, ditch the cap.

problem two, what is the voltage reading at the AMP, nothing else matters.

The "Screw in the floor" could also be a problem. try finding a better ground and make sure all paint is sanded down to bare metal when you make a ground as well.

The cap isn't going to hurt him. I know a lot of people hate caps now, it's just the latest fad to hate them after you used to get points for them. I don't think they are useful for big bass systems, if you wanted to know my opinion.. but anyway. ...

.. are those amps 800W RMS or peak? if that's peak, I'd go minimum of 4 .. if that's 1600W RMS, then 2 or 0. I'm almost thinking that's not going to solve your problem, though.
