what caused this

i re-ran my ground today and when i connected it, the remote wire that runs from my positive distro block to my switch for my amp cought on fire/turned red and melted all the surround. what could of caused it

i dont get it it was hooked up and u just moved it to a new location with a better connection so i dont understand

oh and when i play my system i.e. 100 watt ppi amp on a type r. nothing big at all. and when i have the heat on my rpm's will jump from 800 down to 400 or lower and my voltage will drop. then it will go up and down for a while. i got the alt and batt tested, works perfect. he said i might have a short in my ground

Your new ground was bad, so it somehow used the remote wire for the ground is my guess. Had a buddy do that with his drag car and the $60 shifter cable caught on fire...
