I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab, with a pair of Hertz hsk-165's, Sundown 100.4, and a fancy dancy Kenwood navigation for my head unit. Currently Im throwing in a bunch of second skin, MLV, CCF, and doing the big 3 so between that work and school im going to be busy for awhile, but would like to figure out what to do.
The problem is I have a truck that needs to keep the back seat and behind the seat doesn't have much room for anything more than a couple amps and a extra battery.
My goals are to have GOOD sound quality. My buddy has a FI 15 BL in a 4cuft box tuned to 32htz in the trunk of his saturn and it gets low.. and sounds great with rap, but if he plays some rock or anything else for that matter it seems like the sub just cant keep up. would this be to poor box design? or is that just the sacrifice of having a ported enclosure with a more SPL geared sub?
with some quick measuring and calculating it looks like i have about 1.6cuft of space under my seats without losing any foot room and with 3/4 inch mdf and about 1.75cuft with 1/2 inch mdf. Those arn't 100% but a pretty close estimate. i could bring the box out and lose some foot space if other options require it.
So obviously space is a issue, but my idea as of now is two FI Q 10's sealed. they have a recommended enclosure of .2-.6 sealed, so after displacement and everything those wouldn't be a problem. but my question for you guys is what do you think i should do?
This is my idea as of now, but i am completely open to other options. has anyone thrown these subs in a ported box? I would love the extra output but dont want to sacrifice any of the punch you seem to get in sealed enclosures. keep in mind sound quality is number one and Output is number two..
anyone have any other options? you think i would be better off trying to squeeze in 4 8's??? I haven't looked around at all for 8's so I have no clue what my options would be
any input would be greatly appreciated
