I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab, with a pair of Hertz hsk-165's, Sundown 100.4, and a fancy dancy Kenwood navigation for my head unit. Currently Im throwing in a bunch of second skin, MLV, CCF, and doing the big 3 so between that work and school im going to be busy for awhile, but would like to figure out what to do.

The problem is I have a truck that needs to keep the back seat and behind the seat doesn't have much room for anything more than a couple amps and a extra battery.

My goals are to have GOOD sound quality. My buddy has a FI 15 BL in a 4cuft box tuned to 32htz in the trunk of his saturn and it gets low.. and sounds great with rap, but if he plays some rock or anything else for that matter it seems like the sub just cant keep up. would this be to poor box design? or is that just the sacrifice of having a ported enclosure with a more SPL geared sub?

with some quick measuring and calculating it looks like i have about 1.6cuft of space under my seats without losing any foot room and with 3/4 inch mdf and about 1.75cuft with 1/2 inch mdf. Those arn't 100% but a pretty close estimate. i could bring the box out and lose some foot space if other options require it.

So obviously space is a issue, but my idea as of now is two FI Q 10's sealed. they have a recommended enclosure of .2-.6 sealed, so after displacement and everything those wouldn't be a problem. but my question for you guys is what do you think i should do?

This is my idea as of now, but i am completely open to other options. has anyone thrown these subs in a ported box? I would love the extra output but dont want to sacrifice any of the punch you seem to get in sealed enclosures. keep in mind sound quality is number one and Output is number two..

anyone have any other options? you think i would be better off trying to squeeze in 4 8's??? I haven't looked around at all for 8's so I have no clue what my options would be

any input would be greatly appreciated

most people suggest image dynamics for sound quality from what i have read on here. im sure there are more but thats one of the ones i see most. google it and see what they got

2 sealed 10s or 12s for me would not get the job done I already knew from past experience - I wanted ported so

I lifted my rear set up 2" with some 2x2 MildSteel.....All problems solved...

It allowed me to add a 2.5CF ported enclosure for my FIQ,downfire...

I never have passengers but still wanted to retail factory look - all my amps and shit are

behind the backrest

I am in the midle of a build for an 01 2500HD ext cab. I currently have 2 12" w6v2's under the seat downfiring saled, I pulled these and am fiberglassing the bottom and doing he rest MDF. I will add an external port between the back of the cab and the box. Ther is a ton of space there that is just being wasted. I am doing 4 10" RE SE's so it ought to sound good and the price was right on these.

Excelerator do you have the two brackets on the top of the back part of the seat that connect to the back of the cab? i have heard of people doing that but in my truck there are the four bolts on the bottom as well as brackets on the back wall. what kind of music do you listen to?

and GI joey i see in your pictures that you had a blow threw before? are you using this space on your new setup? i don't see how you can find enough room for 4 10's ported?? what are your box dimensions? Id like to see how your doing that for sure.

Anyone have an idea on how two 12's sealed would compare to one 12 ported?

Yes,the back has a seat catch extension piece, pretty simple stuff

and I listen to rock and roll

With the seat lifted 2" and having 54.5 wide 18 deep and 12 in front and 11 in the back there is just enough aispace for the 4 10"s. The port will be external so that wont rob airspace. I only need 1 cube per sub. With the fiberglassed bottom and the subs frontfiring there will be roughly 5 cubes before DD. So I will have around 4.5 after DD. Thats good enough for the re se 10"s. I would take the 2 12"s sealed but you should be able to get them ported if you build an external slot port comming off the back of the box pointed to the side, There is plenty of room there. Just look at it with the seat raised.

i had two ia 187 12's under mine, and i pulled the bolts out and raised my seat an inch and a half with some pieces of 2x4 for spacers so i could squeez the biggest box possiable under it.

I took a look at those back seat extensions and after looking at it, i have it figured out now.

that pre fab sealed enclosure is .95 cuft per sub and the FIQ 12's have a minimum box requirement of .8 with a .16 of DD i would be just shy of the .8 at .79 would this be a issue?? im thinking that i could buy that box for 100 and not have to spend the time building my own throw them in there and see how I like it. If I'm not satisfied I could then lift my seat and try my luck at a ported enclosure and seeing which I prefer. Generally iv been a fan of sealed enclosures over ported. I know the output is far less but for some reason I always have liked the sound of sealed enclosures. Like I said if im not happy I can always take your guys suggestions on the seat lift but I have a feeling I will be happy enough with the output.

It would be nice if i could hear some different options without spending the money on all of them, but then again I guess thats everyones problem. so might as well start with the easier of the two.

dvldogyut did you do them sealed or ported?

it was ported but very badly, i just put it in there sealed and dint like the sound, so i took my jig saw and cut a 3 inch hole in it and plyed with some pvc for a little while till i found a sound i liked.

Anyone else care to chim in? should the .01 cuft less than minimal be a issue what so ever? I could add pollyfill but even then its still in a small box. anyone put these Q's in small sealed enclosures?? your input would be greatly appreciated
