Here's what I have:

kicker 08zx750.1 --- rated at 928 watts rms

Here is what I want:

a 4 channel amp putting out around 100 watts rms per channel.

Thats another 400 watts.... Will a stock 95 amp alt be able to handle that? 1328 watts and 13 volts would give me 102 amps.... and that is without counting the watts used by my stock features such as lights and everything.

So if my audio system is 102 amps alone.... how many amps will my Explorer see if I didn't have my audio system installed? So that being said, is it okay exceed my stock alternator's amps? At what level will I get dimming and at what level is it unsafe?

Oh yeah I will also be doing the big 3 of course. If I am right on the edge, will having 2 runs of 0/1 gauge for the big 3 help at all?

You could make up the difference with batteries. Like a Yellowtop or Kinetik up front and one in the back as well. How much money you plan to throw at the issue?

And which 4 channel were you planning to get? I'd suggest an Alpine PDX 4.100 or 150. Very nice amp.

You SHOULD be ok, I would add a second battery to start out with, if you are still getting voltage drops then I would look into a larger alt.

I plan on getting the PG RSD's comps up front coax. in back. I was also looking into the pdx 100.4. I honestly don't want to spend a lot more on this. I just wanted the best system I could while keeping the electrical almost all stock. Where would I put a second battery? How much would it cost, and how tough is a second one to install? Could 2 runs of 0/1 gauge help in the big 3? If I got a bigger alt. will it be tough to install myself, and would I need a new battery as well? I just want to avoid a new alt./battery if at all possible. Thanks.

around 1200rms u will be running and with big 3 done you should be good to go

if not then just get the best battery possible to put upfront and you will be fine

What is easier to install, a battery or an alternator? Does one cost much more than the other? I have not looked into batteries too much, what is good, something like a yellowtop?

yellowtop / kinetic are good batteries

battery would be easier to install make sure you get one that fits. and keep the gain away from full tilt on the sub amp (comp amp too) and w/ big 3 you should be just fine

thanks guys I think I'll just pick up a nice battery, keep my gains down, and witht he big 3 I should be good to go
