Hit bump, now I clip, no sound, PLEASE help

Hit a bump, now my system doesn't work (clips). I've installed several car audio systems so I know my way around fairly well.

Recently, I hit a bump and my 880PRS started to clip and the speakers eventually shut off. When I turned it on, I would get hit pitched squeals and more clips (from the sub and speakers). After researching I assumed I broke my pico-fuse so I bought a KIV BT901. I installed it and everything worked AMAZING?

However, today I had some wheel hop (**** vtec) and it happened again. Now the amps are powering on, then clipping hard, and then the headunit and amps shut-off (it keeps cycling this combo).

I tried several different grounds (and even the factory one). I tried ground loop isolators too. I re-soldered some of the wires too--but nothing is working yet?! I noticed at a ground in the back of the wall where the headunit slides in was a bit loose, I re-tightened it as well.

The only wires I have connected from the harness are the orange, yellow, red, and the remote amp (blue/white). Then I have my RCA's and the antenna connected.

I checked my amp and made sure the remote connection was sound and that I didn't have any open wires touching. I was extremely meticulous when I installed everything so there's plenty of electrical tape and I tightened all of the connections well.

I am in serious need of help. I will honestly paypal anyone that can fix my problem. I am almost to the point of selling my car and giving up. I can barely start then engine when all the electrical stuff gets out of line. Last time it didn't, so I assume it will not start for work tomorrow. I am in dire straights, please please help.

Could I have blown the headunit somehow?

I will try and reground tomorrow, if not... I don't even know.

Thank you.

Id go and have the battery checked on the vehicle.. first thing Id do.Sounds like your electrical system is starving for power maybe,??Free at Orielys??Try that first.see what happens.

Ok, so I bought a new battery (Optima yellow). Regrounded the headunit. Retightened the amp remote wires, etc; however, it's still broke.

I saw I had some blown fuses on my sub amp so I replaced them. They immediately blew again.

My component amp's don't though. I tried to plug in my ipod to my component amp and it played, but it had some serious static.

Then I tried with my sub amp's remote and ground disconnected (and with the component amp connected), but I just get really loud clips and tweets and weird high pitched noises. I am at a complete loss. I will pay anyone just about anything to fix this. I am at the point of selling my RSX-S...

Any suggestions and you might save somebody.

you prob have a wire loose grounding out somewhere thats what the screech is probably a speaker wire to be honest had the same problem when my components wire touched door frame. it was a loud high pitch squeal that hurt it even went through my sub and would scare the **** out of me lol... but id go over EVERY wire

^^^^ This

I have had internal fault in a head unit cause similar issue, but if you used an ipod for a source and still had problems you definitely have some issues. Also I wouldn't rule out the idea that more than one thing is going wrong.

I have my sub amp with the blown fuses detached, as I said it keeps blowing fuses. I have an identical one I can test (which may be my next bet)

I somehow doubt it's a speaker wire if I got them to play off my ipod right? Now it seems my component amp is only going into protect and playing UBER high pitched squeals.

My headunit powers on fine and seems to function, I'd be surprise if anything broke internally there no?

It's also not the battery, and I checked the grounds heavily.

Therefore I thought maybe some of the RCA's. I checked the RCA line and didn't see any issues.

I'm thinking of taking it to an installer, maybe best buy or something and having them look at it. I actually worked there in car audio way back. I don't know what they would do differently, but at this point I'm thinking to check all my wiring it would take thousands as I have so many zip ties and lock-downs and there's so much to check out.

Thanks for the help so far, I am seriously dying here.

Ok, this morning I tested it again.

Once again, with only the component amp connected I turned it on and still had all clipping and no sound. Then I unplugged one of the RCA's (the left) and everything sounded FINE in the right channel.

This would eliminate grounding for the amp no?

With this information it's probably the RCA itself being pinched, etc (only the broken right channel though).

I am still not sure why my sub amp is blowing fuses. I am going to get some more and then try each separate RCA channel to see if all of the subs RCAs are jacks or just 1 of them.

Any ideas?

WELL....there is always the possability that the power wire from the battery has managed to have its plastic coating cut through where you went through the firwall and is gounding out there...just a thought. Also you could test to see if the electrical system works without the engine started, that would issolate if it is an alt issue.

Even with the engine off I get the same result so I don't think it's the alternator.

Good idea on the power wire thru the firewall. That could also have worsened with the bumps I hit and explain things overall. I have it secured with ties on my front strut but can probably pull on the base a bit to see if I can lodge it out of the cut area (if it exists of course).

That would be amazing if that worked.

Otherwise I'm going to check my RCA grounding with a multimeter. Mine hasn't been working, but I remember it working before... My problem.

Thanks for the help again. If I could get the system running by Friday I promised myself I'd even go to mass.

Funny. I make fun of ricers all the time. I spend thousands tracking my car every year and am far from a 16yo ricerboi. Anyways...

Ok, I think I fixed half of the problem.

The component amp used to go into protect when I plugged in the left RCA. If I plugged in my iPhone I would get sound out of the tweeter but not the speaker. Now I took the speaker out and I can plug in the other RCA and it doesn't go into protect. I then plugged in my backup driver and it worked!!!

Now I tried to plug my sub amp in. The power amp light would flutter and it would shut off and blow a fuse. Therefore I checked the power coming to the distribution block and it looked fine. Therefore I think my amp is just dead? I also have another identical amp and sub so I may just try the other sub first then maybe the amp? Or vice versa?
