i would still get the kicker and run it at 4 ohms. it'll still probably do in the high 1000's @4, be even more efficient and clean sounding, and plus you have the benefit of reduced current from the 4 ohm load so your speakers can thermally take more abuse.

True that...

That amplifier has a lot of voltage gain. So he probably would be a lot better off power and efficiency wise going with the Kicker...

But, if all he needs is 1000 Watts at 1 Ohms there are a lot cheaper ways to go.

buying the big amp also leaves quite a bit more room for expansion as well..

but if your looking to save a few bucks and don't plan on upgrading for a bit one of those amps that do 1000 @ 1 would be fine.
