Hifonics subs

And you've tested the amp you compared it to, to know its watt output right? Right. You are trying to say your test proved the hifonics is overrated, when you haven't tested either amp you are comparing to know -actual watts-. If you have a dmm, why didn't you bother testing the amp's -actual output- rather than making a quantitative conclusion with zero actual figures? Im inclined to disbelieve you, as it seems odd that same dmm would have given you the actual figures you were looking for, rather than needing to compare to another unknown actual wattage amp. The only thing your test proved, if you actually did use a dmm, was that the one amp (rated less) put out more power. You are jumping to a conclusion that this proves the brutus amps are overrated crap.
As for who those people were, I explained that, at the beginning. When I was looking for these amps, people who I talked to/read from that actually tested watatge output (@14.4) pretty much found them to put out what they were rated for. Did I bookmark all these links, reviews and posts, in case someone demands to see them in the future? No. And I currently do not have the time to go back and do that research again right now, to prove it to you. And frankly with your childish name calling attitude, Im not that partial to take time out of my schedule at this point (having xmas family guests arrive tomorrow) to do it. When I have time, I will look up some of these reviews, and I'll be glad to post them for you.

well actually the other amp i did use did have a birth sheet. it was a kicker kx1200.1 rated at 1200 watts rms benched at 1530 something. half that would be 750 watts at 4 ohms, so it wasn't scientific but the drastic decrease in output from the kicker being run at 4 ohms to the hifonics being run at 1 ohm, was enough to show the hifonics was not producing. the kicker was not producing 1000 watts but was much, much louder then my hifonics. both amps gains were set using a dmm to make sure neither was clipping. the kicker was just flat out louder.

So the Kicker was louder, at 750 watts than the Hifonics was at 1ohm (should be 1500 watts)? You are suggesting quite an overrated amount of watts there. You think a bx1500d doesn't even put out 750 watts, half what its rated for? Clearly there was another issue going on there besides a change of watts, because that's simply not possible. Even if Brutus were overrated, they are not overerated by 100%. That's ridiculous, and again makes me question your testing procedures.

I did some brief research on the 1500d's again, found people mostly happy with the amp and satisfied its putting out at least close to its rated output. Here's a couple of the links you asked for.

Here's some words from a short review:

"Hifonics Brutus BX1500D The brutus is a solid amp but it was benched and it does NOT do it's numbers. At 12.5v it only does 1000@1ohm. At 14.v it would come close to it's 1500@1ohm but not quite. At 2ohms it would do about 700-900 is the guess depending on voltage. Not bad and that is close to what I want but not quite."

Here's a link to the test they are referring to:

http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=038951;p=1

While the test does show the amp probably wont hit 1500 watts at 14.4, it did hit almost 1200 watts at 12.6v, which puts it around 1300-1350 for 14.4. While this isn't the rated 1500 watts, its far from the picture you paint.

I can also provide links to other 'users' like yourself who had different opinions on the amp, and what it is capable of, although never actually tested it to say actual watts, if you still think Im full of it. Here's an example.

http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/showthread/t-219815.html

While I agree they aren't the best amp in the world, even the some of the worst reviews on the amps I read said they were still a good dollar to watt amp even if not putting out their full advertised specs. *shrug*

to do a reactive power test requires more than you think. when you play music (use the amp for what its intended) some amps do far more than others due here im looking for the link you might have read it . richard clark or david navone was saying they used a piezo tweeter and dipped it into distilled pure water. testing power with test tones isnt always the most accurate way.

i was comparing the kicker to a hifonics bx1000D not 1500D. i bet the kicker would still **** the bx1500D when run at 1 ohm. no my test wasn't scientific but when there is a serious increase in loudness from sub over the hifonics, you know the hifonics isn't producing.

lmfao, wow. if you look a lil bit closer at the topic of this thread, it says "subs"....not "amps"....so ya...what you all argued about was a big waste of time because thats not even what he asked about.

nice one....

There is this huge thread that was made a few months ago about the atlas vs kicker, and last that I remember, Polecat mentioned something about a lawsuit. Type it in and search for it.
ya... I think I started that one. I looked at the atlas a little more and determined that any sub that has a circuit board and a light bulb built into the cone wouldn’t be a good idea.
