Hifonics certified now equals higher prices

why not rate them @ 13 volts?

if you want to make improvement why change the heat sink instead of using higher quality transistors/caps/op amps and resistors to compensate?

also how about shielding you high amperage section from you swiching section to lower noise?

id be willing to pay the increase KNOWING i am getting a more accurately rated amp that sounds better..

people swear amp specs are meaning less, but its funny that experenced people agree good dampening low nose floor, good isolation between stages as well as good swiching supplies make a huge difference..

I don't see what the big deal is about CEA ratings! Aren't they only good for 4 ohm output? It's not CEA certified at 1 ohm, RIGHT? I held the BRZ2400 in my hands and it felt lightweight and cheap. I've used Brutus amps in the past and never had a problem. It might be a better amp than the old Brutus, I just can't tell so far. I'm just saying it had a cheap feel to it.

Thank you for all of the comments regarding the new products and of course there is always a little speculation regarding a manufacturers decision to make changes so I thought I should help explain.
1. CEA2006 has nothing to do with higher prices.

2. New design with vertical heat sink cooling fins and better power supply does but it also allows the amp to run cooler, more efficient and will allow us to add bigger power models in the line such as the new BRZ3000.1D-Pro which is 3000 watts RMS and perhaps even bigger power models to come (the old design was maxxed out for heat dissapation capabilities).

3. The new HFi amps are more like old BXi models (if you are just looking for watts per dollar) and the HFi are available in A/B Class 2, 4, 5 channel and a huge line of D-lass mono amps.

4. The DSC amps are being replaced by the new ONYX amps which offer more models and the same performance. Many think the new cosmetics are a big improvement.

5. The new ZXi amps have the same cosmetic enhancements as the new BRZ and offer a huge line of full range amps including the new ZXi60.4/1k wich is a 5 channel amp with a 1000 watt D-Class mono on the back end. Again, the new design allows higher power points then the previous design.

We never make changes just to change. We are always working on improving the performance and reliability of our products and we listen to the requests of our customers in determining many of the changes.

I'm on this forum every day to not only answer questions when I can but to listen to what you have to say about our products.

I bring these requests and comments (good and bad) into product development meeting every week and we take your input very seriously.

As our customers, we truly pay attention to every thing you have to say and do our best to respond.

It's unfortunate that more manufacturers aren't here and make changes based on there customers requests but that is good for us I guess.

Any and all suggestions or comments about the new models is always appreciated and respected.
I know this is old but.. my only suggestions is if it isn't broke, don't fix it. :/ and bring back the original xx colossus.

just because that sorry *** Kenwood didn't make the grade, doesn't mean that all the other amps that's CEA rated are the same as the Kenwood. Rockford is Cea rated, Alpine, Audiopipe, Fusion, kicker and others, but i see nothing about them not doing rated.

nobody said that...all that i said was that cea is irrelevent beyond a 4ohm rating...there are many amps that are not CEA that will do rated and then some. CEA should neither be a selling point, nor a redflag based on lack of cea. Jensen is CEA now, anyone running those?..Its about the quality

I would rather the CEA Rating be at the lowest stable ohm. I could care less about a 4 ohm CEA rated amp. Corrie32 you need to hold one of the Brz in your hands at least. Then hold a Kicker or Rockford amp. They will feel heavier and better built. I went and looked at the new Hifonics just to see if they were worth the price. The guy selling them wasn't even excited about them. They might be real good , but only time will tell? If the brz1700.1 doesn't at least sound equal to a Kicker zx1500.1, for me the Hifonics is not worth it!

I hope to get a pair of either the onyx 2400's or (hopefully) the 3000's when they are released.

Obviously I'll post my test results, just as I have for my dsc2000's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
