using a dmm under 4 ohm load my amp does 45 volts a/c.

i got this rms/voltage/ohms chart and according to it i'm getting around 425 watts out of a amp thats rated 150. its a mtx blue thunder pro 75x2 and i tested both amps. i was gain matching them cuz each one is running one of the coils on my 15.

is this correct? am i really seeing a total of 800+ out of two of these? it hits way harder than the hifonics titan tx1005d that was on it last week. the hifonics is rated 700 at 2ohm. which is how my sub was wired to it.

did you measure the amps coming out of the amp? thats the only way to know how much power you are actually getting. and youll also need an oscope to see how bad you are clipping to get those numbers

No, your not getting that much power. Your probably clipping the hell out of that amp though. It's been stated many times but I'll say it again, you CAN NOT accurately measure RMS power without a clamp meter. If you had an O-scope and were looking at the output of that amp you would know why it's not good...

You guys don't need the chart, it's for calculating what your output voltage should be when setting gains with a dmm.

voltage = sqrt(rms*impedance)

Somewhere in there number of channels comes into play but that doesn't matter for mono amps...

sorry. i was outside for awhile. i only have one meter. and no i dont think im clipping them much if at all. i could get a full 50 volts but it sounded bad. i turned the gains down till it sounded the same at low volume and high volume. and my final outcome was 45 volts per amp. and yes i am running matching amps one per coil. LOL. its the best i have on hand right now. and it gets the job done. i can blow a t-shirt around if i hang it on my door , and if i stand in the doorway i can watch hairs on my arm fly in the breeze. both amps carry 40 amps worth of fusing per mtx's manual also.
