so im starting a new system with a single type r and looks loke im going with hifonics to power it, so what amp would be fine for the r, i heard the bx series were overated like 300 watts and the bxi wast is this true, one more thing how hot they get?, do they go into thermal? are they really good amps or just good bang for the money?

I wouldent say there overated by that much.Ive had my fair sharee of hifonics amps, and they dont get very hot at all.Id say there a good bang for the buck.If it was me Id get a dual 4 ohm type r with a bxi 1206d so you can wire it to 2 ohms, and if you ever get another one you can wire it to 1 ohm and have enough to power it.

buy my blown modded mtx 81000D, it will only cost you between 50-75 to get it fixed and then you have a high quality powerhouse that will last you many years! (pm me if ur interested)

ive bought a new bxi1606d and ran it at 1ohm for 2 months now. hasnt gave me a single problem and doesnt get too hot. warm but not high temp where you wont be able to rest your hand on it. their good amps for the money. whats your budget?

IMO go with dual 4-ohm type-r and pair it up with a Kicker 06zx750.1 (run it at 2ohm). http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16918

ive messed around with sounddomain before and tried the price matching with onlinecarstereo, ikesound, etc... they said it doesnt qualify but they still gave me coupon codes that gave 20% off their listed price...better than nothing. kicker amps are underrated and come with a birthsheet. if you scope through the amplifer birthsheet thread, youll notice every kicker amp has est. 10% more actual watts than rated. and no i dont work for kicker.

two typer r's need 1000 watts per sub.

I had 4 max 1501d's and when not modding they were indestructable

So either 2x1501d/81000

or 2xhifonics 1.5kw rms (cause hifonics lies about specs)

or alpine m1005 x2

jbl 1201.1 x 2

they don't need 1000 per sub. might not hurt, but 500-600 is good. mine are on 750/sub and that does just fine.

well 1000 w clean power. If you want to get max out of it,500-600is too low. try 500 and 1000, clean power never kills (if you/re normal)
i do agree to a point. 500 is the rms rating, but the type r can handle more. i have a precision power pc2350 on 2 now. it's rated at 1400 x 1 @ 4ohms, and that amp is all they can handle. it's a very underrated 1400, so i'm sure its probably closer to 1600. my viper d1200.1 pushed them just fine at 600/sub.
