Hifonics Amps Power

Hey I drive a 96 Nissan Maxima. Im buying 2 Hifonics amps (ZX6400 4 Channel Amplifier for interior speakers & BX1500D Class D 1500W Amp for 2 12" Kicker L7 subs) I was just wondering if I am going to be able to power these without my lights dimming or battery dieng? Any suggestions on what I should get? A new battery? Thanks alot

The only source of power in your car is the alternator, thus it should be a primary consideration for upgrade. If you are sensible with the volume, you will probably get only slight dimming of the lights. If you really crank it you will probaly end up killing batteries and eventually your alternator. A deep cycle type battery can be a short term band-aid but eventually you will have to fix the problem: an insufficient alternator.

check out http://www.excessiveamperage.com or e-mail dominick irragi at Dominick@tds.net both will have good deals on alts. some amps rated power are at 14 volts and if you alt is struggling you won't get the power you need to your amp so it won't hurt to upgrade an alt. my lights dimmed a little with a rf 1001bd ran at 4 ohms only cranking out 500 watts rms and my battery died.

also look into upgrading the big 3. over on sounddomain forums in the exlectrical forum there is a good thread about how to do it. do that and if it still don't work you got everything done so you can just slap in a new alt without having to do the big 3.
