Hi everyone,

I did a search but was unable to find exactly what i was looking for. If you know of a similar thread could you please direct me to it.

So I recently purchased a jeep and was thinking of installing 2 12" alpine type r subwoofers in it. I noticed that they sell them in 2 ohm and 4 ohm. When I compared stats they were identitcal which left me not sure on which one to purchase. Now if I were to hook up two 4 ohm subs they would stay at 4 ohms, or do i have that completely wrong? I was just wondering which would be better and what kind of amplifier they would need RMS wise. Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry if this has already been posted.

It is all about how you wire them. A dual 4 ohm subwoofer can be wired in parallel to 2 ohms or in series to 8 ohms. The lower the number the more power will be drawn from the amp, you just have to make sure the amp is capable of powering at that particular impedance.
