Hi-Lo converter question...?

My buddy wants to hook up some bass for his Mitsubishi Galant. He has a 600w amp and a MTX 12" sub. He is going to use his factory deck and a hi-lo converter. I never worked with one of these converters, so my question is....

do i just splice into the rear speaker connectors to hook up the converter, or is there something else i need to do....?

You are correct as well. It has a few names a LOC converter (short abbreviation),

Hi-Low adapter or converter, RCA converter, speaker level converter etc....
