Hello everybody. This is Gus from Greece. I own a kia picanto 2007 and i want your help. Fisrt of all, forgive if i make mistakes, i can't speak enhlish fluency ..

Well, i put on my car two amplifiers. The first one is a 4channel blaunpunkt gta 480 which is connected with my subwoofer signat onyx 112 and plays only the sub..

The other amplifier is a 2channel axton C400, or something like that (i can't remember well) and this one is connected with focal 130A1 speakers. I want to tell me how i should setup my 4 channel amplifier so that it will not be damaged or my subwoofer won't be damaged too.

So, i want you to tell me how to set the input sensitivity, the bass boost, the frequences etc. Please tell me rates. For example, the dbs goes from 0-12, the frequency from 50Hz-250Hz and the gain from 0.3V-8V.. Which are the "right" rates?

These are gta's 480 technical details:

GTA 480

Max. Total Power @ 4 Ohms 850 Watts

Max. Power at 4 Ohms 4 x 160 / 2 x 425 Watts

Max. Power at 2 Ohms 4 x 210 Watts

RMS Power at 4 Ohms 4 x 75 / 2 x 210 Watts

RMS Power at 2 Ohms 4 x 105 Watts

Number of channels 4/3/2

Frequency response 10 - 35,000 Hz

Signal to noise ratio > 95 dBA

Distortion factor (@ full RMS Power)

Input impedance > 10 kOhm

Attenuation factor (@ 4 Ohms) > 100

Input sensitivity 0,3 - 8 V

Input sensitivity Direct Aux Input 300 mV

Stability 2 Ohms (4 Ohms bridged)

Lowpass 50 - 250 Hz (12dB/Octave)

Highpass 50 - 250 Hz (12dB/Octave)

Bass Boost 0 - 12dB @ 45 Hz

Inputs 4 x Cinch/RCA gold plated, 4 x HighLevel, 2 x Direct Aux Input via 3.5 mm phone jack

Outputs 4 x loud speakers

Dimensions (w x h x d) 352,5 x 53 x 268,5 mm

and these are the technical details for the sub:

System single sealed box

Diameter 1x12"

Continuous powerhandling 150 Watts

Maximum power handling 300 Watts

Nominal impedance 4 Ohms

Sensitivity 91dB/w/m

Overall dimensions 410x384x314/204

Box volume 26 liters

Terminals gold-plated push

Woofer basket stamped steel powdercoated

Voice coil 25mm aluminum 4-layer

Well???

It is quite inefficient to run that sub, needing only 150 watts, off a 4-channel amp. You really need to look at the RMS ratings of the subs and amp you are connecting them to. My advice would be to either get a smaller amp, or get a second sub. What are the specs for the Axton amp?

If however, you want to just keep the equipment you have, bridge 2 channels of your 4 channel:

Sub + to Amp channel 1 +

Sub - to Amp channel 2 -

Bass boost set to 0db's

Gain set low

crossover around 80hz

I've put the sub with the blaunpunkt first and after months the other set and that's the reason they are connected like this. The amplifier is bridged (Channel 3 and 4). The axton amplifier is 2X100rms at 4ohms. When you tell gain low.. how low for example?

My headunit is sony GTX410U

run your speakers off the 4-channel and the sub off your two cahnnel if thats the case. Do you know if that amp is bridgable? What kind of power would it put out in that case.

To make the gain lower, turn towards 3v or lower if possible

stocker08 if you mean the 4channel amplifier yes it's bridgable.. 2X210rms in this case. I'm afraid of my headunit and subwoofer's life!
