How loud will my system be? I'm gonna be running an AQ HDC3 and a RUBI2500D, and I just wanted to know how loud it would be, I've got a friend with like four 15's in the trunk of his Scion tC and it whomps. So if you guys could tell me what db's I'd hit, that'd be great. I'm hoping I can hit at least 160.

I was also told I'd need a huge box for my 18, I figure my friend runs his 15's in 3 cubic feet (box is HUGE LOL), and there's four woofers. So, I figure i can stick my 18 in 2 cubes and it'll be alright. Also, I was told I have to tune my box, and I was looking around at pre-fab boxes and i see that most of them are tuned around 40-45hz, is that a good tuning? I just really wanna be able to be heard from like a mile away, I also wanna impress this girl at my highschool and I'm hoping this will seal the deal.

Thanks for your help.

I think you could get by with 1.5cubes sealed on that 18"... just make sure to turn all the gains and bass boosts up on the amp and head unit... you will get some heads turning and get that girl very impressed man...

19 and still in hs? you will go far in life
Hey man, you don't know me. I'm in my second semester ni my senior year, I got suspended for a while after I hospitalized a kid for calling my girlfriend "a loose gutter slut"

2 Cubic ft at 40hz would sound great on that 18, really smash the lows. As another member said make sure you turn all the settings on the amp all the way up, especially the subsonic filter. With that amp you wont need any more than 8 gauge power wire and a capacitor.

OSB is the best material ive found. That or what they call "Flakeboard" When it gets wet it swells up and seals better. After you build it leave it in the rain for a few days and all the cracks will seal up.
Okay cool, it's not too expensive right?

Should I soak my box before I install the woofer? What should I use to soak it? Water? I feel like formaldehyde would also be a good fluid to use.

Formaldehyde mixed with toulene and xylene is a good combo, but the box will be kind of sticky for a while. I mixed some one time and used it on some MDF. I call it "super swole"

pure salt water is the best i've found to soak the osb in.. also you could try this stuff called particle board. just use 1/4 and elmers school white glue. will hold like a beast man..
