Help With Voltage

Hello I have an 03 eclipse gt with the stock 85 amp alt. I have a voltage meter that is reading 13.5 at idle. Now why would my voltage be that low. I just replaced my alt with a brand new one and have a red top under the hood. I have had to have this battery recharged and it has went dead several times from my old alt not working. Is it time to get a new battery? Also have the big 3 done with 4 gauge, I know its not 0 but its all I had at the time. Any help to get this thing to 14 volts would be greatly appreciated thanks.

maybe theres a voltage regulator on the car that allows it to be at 13.5 ?

or maybe the volt meter isn't calibrated.

Could be man. Do you know how I would go about looking this up? Also if this helps when the car starts it jumps to 14 but trickles down and stays at 13.5 after a few mins.

YA that is because your car is warming up and your rpms are slightly elevated.

This is true. But why would it set at 13.5? Unless there is a regulator. Does it even sound like I need a new batt?
