hey yall i was looking to see if i can get some help with my system im running 2 infinity reference 6.5' in the door panels and 2 JVC 6x9's mounted in 6x9 boxes being run by a Alpine 600w 4ch and 2 infinity KAPPA 12's running off a rockford t400.2 my problem is i like loud clean bass and also loud clean mids and highs but i cannot seem to get a good balance when i get my highs to where i want them i think im pulling too much off my amp and cutting my speakers off line so i have to tune down the subs to fix it so im not getting what i want in bass. is there any suggestions out there of what i can do? maybe get another 380-400 watt 2 or 4 channel amp for my 6.5's? some bas caps? or an equalizer? or all please help thx

I need a little more explanation here but is the problem that when you have your door speakers and 6x9's the way you want them there isn't much bass going through the sub and when you get the sub where you want it your other speakers distort? If so you need some type of a crossover or even some "bass blockers"

yeah basically that is what happens when i have the mids tuned where i want them my subs arent putting out what id like and when i have the subs tuned to what i want the mids do distort some but mostly its when i have my volume adjust turned up so that i can get my mids to the volume where i can actually hear them ( typically at about 11 or 12) they start cutting out i believe the term is clipping? im somewhat a newb when it comes to car audio although my professional field gives me a pretty much general knowledge of the subject im no where near adept. so you would say that some bass blockers ( bass caps as i call them lol) should help how about the addition of another amp for my mids since i think it may be that im pulling too much current off the amp with the speakers im trying to run causing it to cut out. and in your opinion what would the addition of an equalizer do? is that a wise choice or is it somewhat a pointless waste of money? thx

Well...to start with you need to cross the 6 1/2 and 6x9 over around 80hz and let the sub take over from there. Doing that should eliminate alot of the problem. Just curious...what volume does your head unit go up to and what brand is it? On the amp front...I always recommend an amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif By doing that you should have a built in crossover and will be able to do that instead of the bass blockers. As for an eq......they are wonderful to have if you know how to tune and some that are built in some of the new head units are pretty good for basic tuning. If you've got the extra money definately do a nice amp on the midrange/tweet. Notice I said nice amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

honestly i do not know what the volume range is on it i havnt actually checked it but i belive it is 40 and the head unit is a pioneer AVH-P4900DVD. and as far as the amp for my mids and tweets i was planning on putting a infinity 380watt to push the infinity 6.5's and leaving my Alpine 600w 4 ch for my 6x9's or would the wiser choice be to just go with a larger good amp to push all 4? i know the former would be the cheaper route.

Well....you want your best amp on your front speakers. As for the rears.....I don't really care too much for having them. Realistically you woululdn't want to hear the rear speakers much at all. My old boss man had one of those units....or something like it in his suburban......it sounded awful. Luckily the thing quit playing the dvd and we put a better one in there and it was a night and day difference. His was just a dvd/cd/fm though. No monitor.

ok that makes sense and sense my 6x9's are mounted in boxes and they are movable i dont generally keep them in the back i usually keep them in the back seat under the front seats. as far as the deck i cant see that it really plays bad sound aside from the fact that i am having the difficulties getting my sound tuned and i think that is mostly jsut getting my amps and everything squared out thanks for your assistance
