help with some 8's

I need some advise, planning on getting a pair of 8's and was looking at assassins and Kicker comps or cvrs. I wanted something with more SQ or SQL than anything running sealed in a very very small box or IB. I am planning on mounting these under the rear deck and amping around 150 rms. Any advice is truely appreciated, I've been out of car audio for years and not sure the direction I should go. Oh and price is definitely an influence.

I ran (3) GTO804's off ~650W in a ported enclosure and it was very clean. Good little SQ subs for what they are. Only need .3cf sealed.

Everyone kept saying "You got two 12's?" No, three eights. They never believed me til they looked in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

could also look into crystal cmp8's, id8v3s and soundsplinter rl-i 8s
looked at those and yes you figured it out I am poor, too much bank and tried to look for those used but to no avail

Did not even think about JBL, I have to check those out.

The last I checked they were ~$50 each. Not sure how many there are left/if they are still making them.

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118850&page=3 Go down a couple posts. Very bad pics ( //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif )but those are the only ones I have of my (3) GTO's.

all those are little more than i wanted to spend... looking at less than 150 for the pair.

Kicker comp are

Kicker CVR are

Assassin are 90 buck and about a half hr drive from my house

They all have around
Also looking at some tang band or daytons at parts express but I am definitely unsure about those...

i havent heard either of the kickers but i have a pair of assassin 8's in .4ish sealed each and i am rather impressed with them.

i was running a single one off 250 watts and it sounded pretty good for a $60 driver (including shipping)

i dont think you would go wrong with either the AA or the kicker cvr.

both very nice drivers for what they cost.

The nice thing about the assassins is they are just down the road from me, sweet.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would go straight to RE8...

About 2 years ago I posted the same question on this forum...listed about 4-5 8" subs I was interested in...almost all the responses I got referred me to the RE8...

I had never heard of them...but one of the guys gave me a link...they were about $50 each...

I have a Nissan truck with little jump seats in the back that fold out from the side walls...I wanted to use that space for speakers...I built boxes to fit inside that space which gave me just under 1cu ft for the sub and about .4 cu ft for a 6x7 Boston speaker...

I powered the subs with a small Sony amp...my Alpine HU powers the other speakers...

I wasn't looking for high volume...no deep thumpa thumpa...I just wanted to fill out the lower end and put some "weight" on the floor...

I have been VERY happy with the RE8's...my base is very solid all the way down...

My amp low passes at 200 and I have the 6x9 in the rear highpass at 120...

Most posters on this forum would say I don;t have it right...but for what I listen to and how I like my music, it's just right...

Get the RE8's...I guarentee you won't be dissapointed...

Good luck

Steve

I check on RE 8's but can't find a price on there web site:crap: so not sure if those will fit in the budget. I did notice they required the least amount of space out of the ones mentioned. How do these sound relative to Assassins?
